    Hi there
    I can’t get the moblog to work. What am I doing wrong? The entries are created but the content is not. Either it’s all put into the default field (incl. {field:etc}) or nowhere at all. Only title is being accepted (not taken from email subject). Have tried overriding format but no.

    EE 2.1.3 build 20110411. I can’t do upgrade to ee 2.2 as of now, and I need the moblog to work by Wednesday…

    Moblog template

    {entry_title}
    {text}
    {/entry_title}

    {field name="map_intro"}
    {text}
    {/field}

    {field name="map_lati"}
    {text}
    {/field}

    {field name="map_lng"}
    {text}
    {/field}

    Email

    {entry_title}
    A title
    {/entry_title}

    {field:map_intro}
    summary
    {/field:map_intro}

    {field:map_lati}
    55.90
    {/field:map_lati}

    {field:map_lng}
    3.45
    {/field:map_lng}

    All fields are normal textarea fields as required. Content from them are being displayed on this map. (The position you see now is a channel entry created directly in CP.)

    Please help me out,
    Thanks!
    Kath

    Hi, Krake.

    I can replicate this problem on 2.1.3 on one of my local installs.

    Getting ready to test with EE 2.2.1. Is there a particular reason you can’t upgrade today?

    Hi Sue,
    Thanks for testing! And I do hope you could test it for me in 2.2.1 too, please.

    There are two reasons why upgrade right now is troublesome.

    1) I can’t access the database at the moment to make at Backup. (Due to extreme rain and thus flooding in Copenhagen this weekend the host lost all power incl. emergency power since steel doors meant to protect electrical installations were smashed by the water. They’ve been moving 300+ servers to another location, and some access is still problematic)

    2) The site launched Monday so the journalists are checking it out these days. It’s about an expedition taking off this week, so…

    Looking forward to hearing from you soon - hopefully to let my client know that problem will be solved after upgrade.

    Thanks again,
    Kath

    Would it work temporarily to set up a SafeCracker form?

    Maybe…? Please share your thoughts on how.

    The crew on the ship will only be able to email, they don’t have access to the internet, but if it would work sending an email to the safe cracker form and via that have the content placed in the right entry fields - it might be a solution.

    😊

    Hi Kath,

    I know this isn’t what you want to hear since you’re unable to upgrade at the moment, but the issue you’re experiencing is a bug in 2.1.3 that has since been fixed. How soon could you upgrade to EE 2.2.1, the latest version? That is the solution to getting Moblog working again.

    This is exactly what I wanted to hear 😊 Great to know it’s been fixed.

    I have access to DB again, and I’m preparing the update at this very moment, so we’ll have the moblog up and running too in a couple of days. So far the crew has emailed me the ship’s positions and I’ve uploaded - with the moblog working it’ll be much quicker and ‘real time’. Cool!

    You can close this thread, I’ll get back to you referring to this one in case of any issues.

    Thanks!

    Hi again, thanks for leaving thread open while performing upgrade.

    The content is now placed in right fields exept for the category ID that is not registered (added afterwards to both moblog template and email acc. to docs).

    However, the entry is not updated on template, not even if I modify it manually. It’s just not being accepted, and when I view the entry in CP I can still se the {entry_title} tag pair etc. Please see screenshot. Have tried using < > too, no luck.

    Why would that be?

    Hi Kath,

    Glad to hear the update fixed the issue of getting your Moblog entry data properly into the channel. It sounds like we may have an unrelated problem now, but I’m not sure. Let me clarify to see:

    So as of now, emailing an entry with the proper Moblog formatted email results in that data properly entered into a new channel entry except for the category field, which Moblog appears to ignore, correct?
    Now with the entries not being updated in the CP, are these Moblog entries created before the upgrade, after, or both?

    Hi Kevin,
    It’s correct that the category ID is being ignored although sent in right format.

    Everything else seems to work fine now, however. The entries are now created and displayed in template the right way after I deleted the {entry_title} and {category} tags from the moblog email template (thaught they should be included there too). So, email code looks like this:

    {entry_title}
    some title
    {/entry_title}

    {field:map_intro format="none"}
    some text
    {/field:map_intro}

    {field:map_lati format="none"}
    a latitude coordinate
    {/field:map_lati}

    {field:map_lng format="none"}
    a longitude coordinate
    {/field:map_lng}

    {category}
    a category id
    {/category}

    Only the category ID is being ignored. In Moblog prefs I have default category set to None.

    Thanks,
    Kath

    Hi Kath,

    Just to see if Moblog is parsing the category tags incorrectly, could you update your email’s use of the category tags to reflect the User Guide exactly? That is to say, make it look like this:

    {category}3{/category}

    Moblog shouldn’t be choking on line breaks, but that may be what’s happening here, so I want to test it by matching the documentation as closely as possible. We’ll go from there.

    Hi Kevin,

    The line breaks were the trigger - interesting that this is not the case for {entry_title}.

    Anyway, problem solved here, and you might have a bug to deal with.

    Thanks a bunch! You can close the thread.

    Great! Glad that took care of it. While it’s not a show-stopper, I submitted it as a bug because that’s pretty annoying and can cause you to get stuck trying to figure it out.
