    Hiya,

I’ve just installed 2.2 on a live server and am having problems staying logged in to the Control Panel for very long.

Also I have a Templates menu item which I set up by going to Design > Templates > Template Manager and clicking on the +Add button and when I click this link, instead of being taken to the template manager I am taken to the index page of the site and then upon trying to reload the Control Panel I am logged out again!

I usually have things set up so that I use Cookies for both the Control Panel Session Type and also for User Session Type. This site is on the exact same server as all other sites that I ever create so not sure what’s going on here.

It seems to now either just log me out after a short amount of time or take me to the index page of the site when I click on just about anything in the Control Panel.

Any help on getting the Control Panel to play nice with me would be greatly appreciated.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hmmm…

    Strange!

I think I’ve found what the problem was though no idea why it was happening. I just noticed that upon clicking on a couple of menu items that I had added they had session IDs in them and I don’t have sessions being used on the site anywhere. Deleting these menu items and re-creating them seems to have fixed it so far.

None of the menu items now contain the session ID in them and I’m not getting logged out or redirected any more so hopefully that has it fixed now.

Still don’t know why this has happened and whether or not it’s going to happen again so would appreciate any input on this one. That is if there is any input that can be put into this one as it does seem exceptionally strange to me.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Mark,

Might you have saved those menu items first before changes your Session type?
Do you wish me to keep this thread open for the time being in case it recurs?

    Mark,

Might you have saved those menu items first before changes your Session type?

Pretty sure I didn’t as I pretty much never use Sessions however I won’t say that I definitely didn’t as I was playing around with those settings trying to get it all working so it might have been.

Could this possibly be a bug in that case because if the menu items are saving the session ID along with them then if your session runs out as it would do normally after a period of time and then you use one of those menu items then the same sort of thing is going to happen again isn’t it?

Do you wish me to keep this thread open for the time being in case it recurs?

Well, touch wood it hasn’t happened again yet however if you agree then perhaps this thread should be moved to bug reports instead?

Will leave that one up to your decision though. I can post back again if I have any more problems with it but if this is a bug then might be best if this thread went into that forum instead. What do you think?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi, Mark.

We don’t have a bug forum any longer.. Let’s go ahead and close, and if needed we can reopen.
