Categories showing up from other channels

I have EE v2.0.2pb01 installed, and when I share a category group with more than one channel and then pull the channel categories with show_empty=“no”, I still get the titles of categories that are being used in the other channel.  I don’t actually get the entries from the other channel, but I do get empty categories if the other channel has entries that use them.

Should I file a bug report on this?  It seems to me like this is undesired behavior, but I wanted to check here first.  To my mind, show_empty=“no” should not include categories that are empty in the current channel.

    Thanks!

That’s how things worked in EE1.6.x, and I expect the behavior hasn’t changed for 2.x. I can ask the dev team if this is still intended behavior.

It would seem like that behavior defeats the purpose of having reusable category groups.  Obviously, you can specify multiple channels to pull from in your categories tag, so I don’t know why you would want to see categories that are not used in the channel(s) you specified.

I appreciate you checking into it - thanks!

You could find an existing feature request and add your voice to it, or create a new one for EE2.x. Unfortunately that functionality remains the same for 2.x.
