Has anyone found a way to incorporate forum access at the user level instead of group level?  Since EE will not allow for multiple group assignment, group control will not work for me.  I have a small group of people (approx 8) that need access to a private forum.  I tried to make these people moderators of the private forum and remove permissions for the main groups, but they can’t view it even though they are moderators.

When I say Forum, I am using EEs naming. So a Main topic under a category.  Ex:  “How To” under the category “ExpressionEngine Community Forums”

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Rick

Looking for exactly the same thing, but I might be able to help you.

Have you considered to set up a separate forum board for your hidden forum, put the forum tag in a normal template (i.e. no trigger word) and use the private area module http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/modules/restricted-area/

I haven’t tried this yet, but I’m curious whether this will work. In a few weeks from now, I’ll need to solve this issue as well and I was thinking about it already.
