I am setting up a site that will feature a traditional blog. The user is coming from a wordpress blog and use to how to input a blog post. I am able to mimic this process pretty easily except for adding images. What is the most user friendly way to add images to a post. The built in upload method is pretty clunky I think. I have tinymce as well which is not much help either. Ultimately I would like for the image to be resized as well as needed.

I’m not sure what’s clunky about the standard EE upload method for files. One click opens the pop up navigator, another click selects and uploads a file. Then there are plenty of self explanatory options for thumbnails, resizing, even which field to place the image.

How is it easier, better, more delicious in WordPress or any other CMS app?

When it comes to uploading a file, it works fine as it gives you the flexibility to resize/thumbnail the image. My problem is more on choosing an image thats already on the server.

    1. You browse by filename which most of my filenames are longer than can fit into the field so its hard to read.
    2. There are no resizing options once selected.

If choosing a file that was already on the server had the same process as uploading, it would be fine.

On a side note, I think EE is the most delicious CMS App out there.

I hear you. That’s something of an age old problem with any CMS app, and one area where I’d like to see EE do something better.

    1. You browse by filename which most of my filenames are longer than can fit into the field so its hard to read.
    2. There are no resizing options once selected.

That’s a common problem, though easily solved with any one of many web-based image editors or file managers, ranging from the expensive FileRun to MC File Manager and Image Manager, to the bare bones File Thingie, to a list of others. But it’s also something else to manage, as opposed to having it all nicely integrated.

Yes it would, especially so since some of those tools and capabilities already exist is the EE Gallery Module.
