I’m hoping someone can provide a little guidance about the best way to use an EE site as a staging area for Constant Contact emails. I know a direct interface isn’t possible, but here’s what I’m hoping to do:

(1) Set up an EE-generated page that is, basically, the way the HTML email will appear. Client will be able to control the content of this page via a weblog.

(2) Copy the rendered code for that page and paste it into the appropriate field within Constant Contact’s editor. This part seems a little clunky because my client will have to do a “view source” in the browser and then copy/paste.

Any other ideas or suggestions out there?

Solspace have an extension that links EE with Constant Contact.

I believe that extension only pertains to the sign-up functionality (allowing your site visitors to subscribe to Constant Contact emails) not the content or design.

I have done this for Campaign Monitor. Taking one of their email templates and dropping it into an EE template (group - newsletter/index). Then the code is email ready codewise.
Is is a good idea to have a webversion of the newsletter and use EE to make it rather than having to manually do so i the email software all the time.

Could remove the view source requirement by outputting a text version replacing the brackets with code <and >
This is why I use CM most of the time as entering the url of your newsletter at CM brings it into their system, neat and handy.

Thanks for the tips. I’m definitely stuck with Constant Contact for this one but it’s good to know you’ve had success with Campaign Monitor. I’ll keep that in mind for the future.
