Licenses and renewal

I think I’ve officially decided to move my website from Textpattern to EE. The transition went fairly well, though I’ve been running into a bunch of snags. I decided to hop on the forums, but found that the forums are really only catering to paying members. It’s annoying, since I’d rather know for sure I understand what I’m getting into before I pay, but I understand. If things perform well, I’ll be purchasing a license.

My question is this: What happens when my license runs out? Do I retain access to the forums? What about bugfixes? Security patches? If my license runs out and a major security hole is found the next week, am I out of luck unless I dish out another $20?

    Thanks,
    Aaron

    Greetings, Aaron,

Yes, you retain access to the forums, but in order to download future updates you will need to renew access to the download area.

In all honesty, we have not had a situation where a major security hole was found, and so this has not come up and we’re very, very careful to avoid it coming up in the future.
