I’m currently using Wordpress for a site for teaching.
Much of the content is video tutorials. The way I work it now is to just
link to the external video tutorials in a folder outside of my Wordpress
files. I do this by creating a new blog post and inside the copy I create
the link to the video clip. Here’s the site as it stands now:
    http://masteringvideography.com

I am new to CSS and am just going through some tutorials on the subject.
I have created many of my past sites using html and my present production
    company site in Flash. http://avitamarc.com

I’m just wondering if EE is something I could use to improve my site.
I will have products to sell as they’re finished as well as the video
    tutorial thing.

The only reason I’m looking at EE is because I really don’t like what
I can do with Wordpress. I need more customization. However I’m quite
concerned by the learning curve I see ahead with CSS AND Expression Engine.

Any recommendations, suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

    Greetings,

EE can easily handle videos, and we have several plugins for making this easier, which you can find in our addon library (linked in my sig).  There are also several wiki articles on using videos, depending on how you wished to handle it.  Since the URLs give away their titles, I’m just going to paste the URLs here:

    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Embedding_YouTube_movies/
    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Video_Casting/
    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Embedding_YouTube_Movies_w_Reusable_Template/
    http://expressionengine.com/wiki/videoplug/

And there are other ways to handle this.  So essentially, what you would end up doing is creating your site then using an entry for teach tutorial, then you could upload videos into that entry for your tutorials.  Fairly straightforward and extremely powerful and flexibile.

There are many CSS tutorials out there, and we have a lot of resources for EE, including this fabulous forum, which is professionally staffed by EE experts, here to help you.
