I currently have in place, 3 web sites running under the same install of EE using path.php configurations to run each site with it’s own look and feel.

Under my current system,  legally I can have an unlimited number of sites running under the same install of EE - however drawbacks are shared member base, shared member templates, etc…  correct?

Regarding MSM,  I watched the video and it talked about seperating members by assigning a member group to each site.  Is this correct and would this be done through a hidden tag added to the registration page? If, not, how would this be done?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

In the MSM there is, indeed, a shared member base - but you can set the default member group per site, and you can have per-site membership templates: something you could not have in the old system.  Because member group settings are saved per-site, you can show different member groups on different member lists, giving you fairly good distinction.  The MSM is available on the hosted demo so you may want to give it a run through before purchasing.

So - no, the member group assignment wouldn’t need a hidden tag, it would be done through each site’s membership preferences.
