I realize that this post is close to a ‘how to,’ but the answer will help me to determine if EE commercial fits my needs.

I want to create a site that has both free & paid content.  Can ee do the following for me:

1.)  User registers for the website & pays for services via the simple commerce module at the same time.
2.)  upon successful registration & payment, they automatically have access to the “members only” content
3.)  I am notified via email when a new user signs up.
4.)  There is a limit to how long the user is signed up (eg, 6 months).  It would also be nice if there was a way to let the user know when their subscription is running out.
5.)  2 different levels to the forum module.
a.)  paid users are able to view & post to any topic.
b.)  free users can sign up, but they are limited as to what they can view.

I have set up 4-5 EE sites, but I haven’t done anything this in depth with it.

    Sorry for the long list.

    Thank you in advance,

Yes, the member group can change automatically.

There is currently no way to handle subscriptions or recurring billing. You’d have to expire these members manually, but it should not be too difficult to do. Solspace (Disclaimer: I do some support work for them) have a module in the works that should be able to handle that.

    Yes, no problem.

    Ingmar,

Thank you for your reply.  I also appreciate the “heads up” on the upcoming Solspace “subscribe module”.

Your input (here, and on all of your forum entries) is most appreciated.
