embed custom fields in main text fields+ styling custom fields

Hi - I’m trying to create captions for images that might be placed in the body of a post. They may be styled a few different ways.
Would I have to CSS style these by hand or is it possible to embed a custom field ee tag inside a text field?
(Doesn’t seem to work though)

i.e.

Text of article….
```
photo.jpg 
{caption_1}
```
Rest of text of article….

Also - is it possible to style an EE tag automatically - say wrap a div/span around it or apply a class to it, without doing it in templates?
