_assets/categories error

I just installed the latest version of EE. I’m trying to publish a posting and this error is displayed when I select the category tab. I tried deleting the categories and the error is still there. It seems pointless to even try to create content when categories are not working properly. How do I fix this?

I guess the channel did not have a category associated to it.
