    hi there,

i´m working on a new website which is ready to go since a few days. since this is a german site we want at least one language option (english). so we tried several solutions and bought the transcribe-module which is a in some way an easy solution – but you need to have channel-entries for each language even if there is only one field which content changes during the switch of languages.

so i asked myself if there is a “supported” or “official” way of doing a multilanguage website?

there are several options which need to create folders on the root-level for each language with their own index-files inside. these solutions are also very clever but i am concerned about updating my ee-installation in the future.

which solution is the best way to go keeping ee-updates and system-integrity in mind?

    Hey there Matthias,

Transcribe and The Multi-Language Module are the best solutions that I am aware of. They are supported by the developer, but EllisLab does not have an “offical” way to get to a multi-language setup. There is a tutorial on the wiki but it’s not “supported”.

I know you were hoping for a better answer, but these few options do work. You will just need to plan things out a bit and when you update just keep notes on all that.

I can move this over to the Community Help Forum if you would like. This is a pretty deeply explored area so you may get more of the same advice, but it never hurts to ask!

Is there anything else I can help with?

    Cheers,
