I am building a site using EE 2.5.3 and having a problem with setting maxlength on text input fields. When I create a new entry the maxlength defaults to 128. Once I save the newly created field and go back in to edit, the default has changed to 12 characters. I have tried changing the value to 10 just to see if it was limited to two integers for some reason but even then it reverts back to 12. I’ve built a few sites using EE and have never had this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I am under a tight deadline to get this site out. Thank you.

I have had the same issue and require a work-a-round too.

I’m not able to replicate your description of the problem. Are there any other details that could inform the issue?

Using ExpressionEngine 2.5.3 and adding a standard text field using Admin-> Channel Administration-> Channel Fields I was able to add a new text field, save it, then edit it. The original value of 128 was intact and I then set it to 265 and saved. I opened it again to edit, and my new value was still intact.
