    Hi Everyone,

I am facing a very strange bug. I just moved my expressionengine site to the final server and all my channel entries tag in all my templates do not work anymore. I can change every parameter but it does not change anything. No ouput. The system does not even output simple HTML tags.

I installed the last version of ExpressionEngine (just for test purpose) with Agile Record entries. And it shows ! Channel entries tag works without any problem.

I checked the files in the “modules/channel” folder and nothing is missing.

What can I do to solve this problem ?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Esparon,

I’m sorry to see you’ve had difficulty with ExpressionEngine after moving to your live server.

Anyone ? A little help ? I would be happy to bring your more information.

I do apologize for your wait! We do try to beat our Support Policy of first response within 2 business days. I appreciate your patience!

First place to look is in the User Guide on Moving ExpressionEngine to Another Server. Make sure you’ve double checked all the steps in that outline.

Would you mind sharing some of your template code with us? I’d love to see if there is anything that stands out that could be causing this problem.

If we can’t sort it out quickly, I’ll send you a request for more information.

    Cheers,

Dan is pretty spot on there - I have just finished migrating a few EE sites myself and that documentation for moving sites is invaluable!

For step 10 you need to check that your document path hasn’t changed with the server, for example, some servers use /usr/local/ and some use /var/ for their base directory and some use something else entirely!  I’d suggest using phpinfo() to figure out which one your new server uses.

    Hi,

I think you are going to laugh when I will explain what the problem was.
Actually, the server’s datetime was set to 1 year and 2 months ago. As a result, in the point of view of EE, all the entries had not been published yet. After we asked the server provider to set it to the current date, everything went fine ...  I am sorry their mistake made you loose time with my useless question.

So we may close the topic 😊 Maybe this mistake will be helpful to people facing the same problem in the future 😊

Thanks again for your great help and disponibility (even if a looked desperate on tuesday ...)

BTW although this is resolved I just found something useful for moving servers…  Deeploy Helper is great for changing all server paths etc in one shot. :D

Thanks for the tip. I think I’ll keep it for my next websites. It’s not that changing each path one by one with the fear of forgetting one among them is not a pleasure to me but ...

It just saves about 20 - 30 minutes or an email from a client. Worth the $15 or whatever they are asking.

I move my sites from MAMP to server all the time, so this saves me a bit of time. 😊

    Hi Esparon,

    Indeed, that will do it!

I’m glad you were able to sort it out!

    Cheers,
