    Hi all,

I’ve just upgraded to 2.5.3 and now my Publish and Edit pages show the file upload options (“Choose an upload direction”, drop down, etc) in the footer (below the dark strip).

Whilst this in itself doesn’t cause a functional problem, I thought it was a bit odd.

However,  when I click the file chooser button on one of my fields and bring up the File Manager modal popup, the “Upload File” button no longer works.

I’m able to get around this by changing my work flow, but I’m just posting about this to get some help to go back to my usual work flow of using the modal windows but also in case there are deeper underlying problems?

    Thanks,

    Mark

This is odd, and I’m seeing the same behavior on 2.5.2. The “Upload File” button within File Manager doesn’t do anything, but I can upload files via the out-of-place form that’s at the very bottom of the page, below the dark footer bar.

I suspect it’s because the themes have gotten out of sync with the rest of the system through a partial upgrade. Could you both try uploading the themes folder again to make sure you’re using the latest files? If that doesn’t take care of it, include a screenshot of what you’re looking at any we’ll go from there.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kevin

    Thanks for replying.

I tried uploading the Themes folder again and nothing changes.

Aside from the “Upload files” button not working in the modal popup, the attached image shows the bottom of the page and the file manager options I see down there.

Look forward to hearing what you think!

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hey Mark,

Be on the lookout for an email from me. I’d like to have a first-hand look at this one.

Just posting a note here to let onlookers know that we’re working with Mark privately on this for the time being. I’ll post an update back here once we have something to share!

I am having same issue as Mark. When I upgraded EE to the latest version the file upload is not working within Channel or from file Manager. This is also on production server, so I am very hesitant to do trial and error. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi rpatel,

The first step when we see weirdness like this regarding displaying anything in the CP is to make sure you have a freshly uploaded version of the themes folder. Could you try uploading a fresh copy of the themes folder and let me know if that takes care of it?

That was it, I uploaded the themes folder again. Thank you

😉  Glad yours was an easy fix, rpatel.

Would be nice to know what the solution actually was. “Uploading the themes” folder doesn’t tell us much. What file was missing or corrupted or truncated?

I’ll admit, I’m always curious as to what the specific problem is too.  But for the fastest solution, it’s almost always a better better to just put up a fresh folder.  If it ends up being theme related, you’ll want to put up a fresh folder regardless, because if one problem snuck through it’s likely others did as well.

Usually it boils down to FTP not overwriting files properly.
