    Hi,

I am trying to block some email domains that have started spamming our registration section. Privously we have been able to block domains such as hotmail, yahoo and gmail - however there have been some newones coming through that we want to block as well. Although I know that this was done in the past, I can’t work out how to add new domains to the blocking list.

We are running EE 1.6.4, thanks in advance for any help!

    Kind regards,
    Celia

    Hi Celia,

    I apologize for your wait!

You can use the Blacklist Module to add new blocked domains. It can also use automatically update lists.

I also need to suggest that you update to ExpressionEngine 1.7.3 if you can. 1.6.4 is fairly out-of-date.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I have installed this module and I can black list IP addresses, URL’s and user agents - but how do I block certain email domains, such as “@yahoo” and “@gmail”?

There is a way of doing this as it has been done in the past, but the person who did it has since left.

    Kind regards,
    Celia

I have managed to work this out for myself.

If anyone else has a similar issue:-

—> go to the admin section
    —> Members and Groups
    —> User Banning

Then in the “Banned email addresses” (box on the right hand side) add the domains you want to be blocked, each as new line items listed as *@domain.com for example -

    *@yahoo.com
    *@hotmail.com
    *@gmail.com
