Well the behavior was different in that particular case. Upon form submission, you’d end up with either a blank page or be directed to the site’s homepage. In your case (if it’s the same as the post that started this thread), you’re being returned to the form you’re trying to submit. I doubt the trouble with yours is related to a mod_security issue or you’d be seeing the same effects.

In your case, you said you’re seeing the problem intermittently. Does that mean that the same form will sometimes do this and other times will submit successfully? Or is there a consistent pattern you’re able to discern where some forms will always submit, others will always return to the form without properly submitting?

    Hi Kevin,
I’m still encountering the issue totally random. There is no pattern.
It’s not only on submission forms. It can be when submitting a form to add custom fields to a field group for example.
I just had it again when saving a setting in an add-on.
What happens, is that after clicking save (submit), I’m redirected to the CP home page.

Hey Guys, I’m experience the problem where through out the dashboard (from the edit, to addon settings screens), and also the frontend (I’m using cartthrob for ecommerce and my update cart misbehaves) where the form doesn’t get submitted. In the control panel I get kicked back to the home page. Also sometimes I can’t login. I can see the session is started for a brief moment cause the url and page title changes for a split second.

It does all of this when it wants. If it any help I’m on host gator shared hosting, and I’m realising it’s not only this one site that does this, but another EE site gives me trouble to save and login.

I might have found the problem. I was using a plug-in called Quick Save. I removed the plugin and now I haven’t had the problem for a while.
I thing I’ll try it this way until I encounter the issue again (or not).

@.jb Do you have this plug-in too?

    Hi Guys,

I had the same problem again on an existing site, even though Quick Save plugin is disabled.

I just installed a brand new EE2.5.3 install and the problem occurred when submitting the form to add a new channel!

Could it be a PHP version issue (5.2.17)??

    Hi louisk,

I recall an issue a while back that was very specific to the PHP version. 5.2.17 rings a bell, but it was related to Media Temple.

Digging back through the forums turned up a few places where this problem was related to PHP as FastCGI rather than an apache module. Is that a factor here?

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,
    No, not using FastCGI…
I’m thinking it must be a server side issue since I’m having some other strange unexplanatory problems but add-ons as well.
I’m not so keen on updating php because there are some other sites running on the machine which might break.
