This question may be related to a resolved thread.

SolSpace’s Entry Notification isn’t available for EE2 and won’t be for several months. MX Notify Control doesn’t let you update the author of the entry that I can see. Any other options?

MX Notify Control looks like it actually can do what you’re looking for.  In the yellow instructions at the top of the page, it shows how you can send the email to the mbr_email address (sending to the author of the message, in this case).

That plugin is free… so it might be worth installing and testing.

    HI Moo,

Those are the only options that I am aware of. It looks like MX Notify Control does what you want. Have you tested it out? Is there anything else I can assist you with?

I was having this same issue. I couldn’t get the {mbr_email} tag to ever actually send an email to the author.

After some digging through the extension developer’s forums I found the answer. Use the tag ‘{author_email}’ instead. It isn’t listed anywhere in the documentation, but once plugged in, it works like a charm. (Note: I’m using it to notify the author of a post when the status has been changed.)
