    EE 2.3.1

    Moved site from MAMP server to client server. Updated URL and paths. Changed the UNIX settings to my upload folder back to 777.
    I can see the subfolders and files I created previously in the File manager.

    As soon as I’m trying to upload a file I get a: “The temporary folder is missing”. error after I have chosen the file to upload and the directory to upload to.

    Likely that error is actually referring to you PHP’s temporary file. It will be set in your php.ini file. In a PHP environment files are first uploaded there by the server and then moved to their final location. If you don’t know where your php.ini file is located or want to quickly check the temp location you can put the following in a simple PHP file.

    <?php echo phpinfo(); ?>

    E2design,

    This is a server configuration error and if you can’t figure it out with caddisint’s suggestion I would recommend talking to your host about this.

    Thanks for the assistance. You have been pointing me into the right direction.
    Lesson learned: never trust your clients hosting provider but use your own 😊

    😊 I’d say that’s always a better arrangement if you can swing it.

    Glad Sean was able to get you taken care of. Is there anything else I can do to help?

    I’m having this same issue.  My <?php echo phpinfo(); ?> file tells me that the upload_tmp_dir has no value setting.  So do I need to find the php.ini file and enter a directory path there?

    This problem seems to have appeared suddenly after I’ve been able to upload files all along.  What might have caused this to happen?

    I suspect something your host upgraded is what caused this change. I’d recommend checking with them, Mike. They’ll be the ones that need to make the change to your PHP config to set the upload_tmp_dir setting.

    Yup.  Turns out the host shut off the temp folder as a reaction to some “cyber-terrorism” attack, then “forgot” to turn it back on until I reminded them.??

    Thanks for the help.

    Oh yikes… that’s not great.

    Glad to hear you’ve gotten it all straightened out! Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for ya, Mike.
