de Beer have released a public beta version of HooKan, a module for managing ExpressionEngine permissions.
HooKan collects all EE permissions in a single page from where they can be compared and updated without having to go to each user group in turn.
de Beer has no claim to fame as a programming powerhouse - this is a first attempt at programming a module for ExpressionEngine.
de Beer specialises in building secure, online case-management systems for organizations tasked with managing high-risk cases. Cases such as those involving crime-prevention, mentoring of at-risk individuals, probation services and the education and training of the people who do the associated casework.
Such organizations tread a fine line in data protection between law-enforcement and/or state security agencies on the one hand, and the individuals whose cases they have to manage, on the other. User access security and the protection of sensitive information are therefore of critical importance. and de Beer needed a more effective way to manage user access permissions in order to do a better job
Having created HooKan for our own needs, we thought others might appreciate the ease with which HooKan enables permissions management
de Beer is launching HooKan at version 0.9 as a public beta, with a discount for those admins who would like to try it out, provide suggestions for improvement and report bugs (hopefully not too many - bugs that is.)
Available from our updated e-commerce site.
P.S. HooKan is our pidgin for “Who Can” do what in EE - we know, that’s cheesy.
