I am needing to output my entries {categories} with the last result separated differently.

    For example; Apples, Bananas and Carrots. Currently, I can output a similar result using;

    {categories limit="3" backspace="2"}{category_name}, {/categories}.

However I am not sure how I can conditionally replace the comma with an ampersand before the last result.

    Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Hi Josephs,

Unfortunately at this moment there isn’t a way to achieve what you need with the categories variable pair. There are only a few parameters available to it and {if} conditionals aren’t supported inside the pair I’m afraid.

You might be able to get what you need done by using a custom SQL query although we wouldn’t be able to support you if you went that route. You could post to the Community Help forum as someone may have done this sort of thing before and can lend a hand or they might be able to come up with a handy solution.

Also, please do feel free to add a Feature Request to allow this operation in future versions of ExpressionEngine.

    Does that help at all?

    Thanks.

    Hi Josephs,

Just catching up to see if that answered your question at all and if you need any more help on this one?

    Thanks.

Thanks Mark, no I didn’t find a solution to this - I’ve just made-do with a copy workaround for the time being.

    Hi Josephs,

Just wanted to check to see if you’re okay for me to close this thread now?

If you do have any more issues though then please don’t hesitate to post another thread as needed.

    Thanks.

Thanks Mark, I don’t think I’ll find any answers for this. I guess it’s either a custom job or a feature request now!

Though I guess my next question is about legacy trackbacks and how I’m supposed to use pingbacks?

Please do feel free to post a Feature Request as they are all read. If you can give a story explaining what you want and why it would benefit you then these are better than just “I want” and not explaining why.

Though I guess my next question is about legacy trackbacks and how I’m supposed to use pingbacks?

If I could ask you to post that question in a new thread please so that we can keep one thread per topic. Someone will get to your new post as soon as they can.

I’m going to close out this thread now but if you do have any more questions then please do feel free to post again as needed.

    Cheers,

    Mark
