    Hi there

I’m curious to know if there’s an alternative method available to stop multiple logins from the same ee account than by using sessions?

My site is a paid membership site so this is an issue for me right now.

    Cheers

    Hi Jim,

If you go to Admin->System Preferences->Security and Session Preferences

you should see an option for :

Allow Multiple Accounts Using the Same Email Address?

This is usually set to No so check that it isn’t set to Yes by mistake perhaps.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Thanks Mark. I’m actually aware of that already. My issue is that this won’t work if you just choose to use cookies as the way of specifying whether a user is logged in or not. Out of the box, you need to allow sessions in the URLs to stop people logging in more than once using the same account.

Adding session ids to my urls is likely to break my site as it is right now, and I’m looking for possible suggestions as to a workaround.

    Cheers

    Jim,

Ok gotcha, its for the front-end. Only method out of the box is with the session.

What I might try is maybe validation on the username on the login form that checks the exp_online_users table before form submission using a query.

Similar to how Twitter checks for a username in existence already. You are just checking to see if they are online already.

Does that give you any idea?

I can move this to the CodeShare corner as the subject is more suitable for there if you wish?

Like your style John. Sounds like a good workaround - I’ll give that a go.

Enjoy your Aeropress (I also have one).
