I’m starting to learn PHP and wondered if there were any books the EE community would recommended to a beginner looking to learn PHP.

I loved both PHP Solutions and PHP OO Solutions, both by David Powers. Both written very simply with lots of code examples. I also liked PHP:// The Good Parts and Essential PHP Security.
Am interested in seeing what others have to say, too!

Jason Gilmore has several books available including his 4th edition Beginning PHP & MySQL:

He also contributes to several websites including developer.com
Hope this helps

I have been learning PHP since March. I’m reading “PHP : The Complete Reference 1st Edition” to get help. I liked it, there are lot of examples, easy language and everything explained nicely. My teacher also publishing a book on PHP, I’m also waiting for it.
