    I moved my site to a new server (using http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Moving_servers_-_ExpressionEngine_site_to_the_new_host/), I also updated the site from 1.6.8 to 2.1.1 (Build: 20101020) and now I can’t get the Simple Search form or Free Form (also updated) to submit.

    When I press submit on either form I am sent back to the site homepage. I even tested with the default simple search template, and it still didn’t work.

    I have minimal add-ons: Low Seg2cat, SC Publish Redirect, Free Form

    The site tested 100% valid xhtml strict. I just don’t know where to look anymore.

    Any thoughts?

    454 Creative,

    Are you using a htaccess file to remove index.php?
    Can test after disabling extensions. Use the button in the top right as opposed to disabling individually so you keep your settings intact.

    Hi John,

    Yes, I’m using an htaccess file to remove index.php. I tried removing it, along with disabling extensions, but I still had the same issue.

    Make sure you also put index.php back into General Configuration under Name of your site’s index page

    Let’s concentrate on you search form. Can you post your simple search tags here please?

    Can you also try turning on Query strings for a test

    John,

    To keep it simple I’m using the defualt form:

    {exp:search:simple_form channel="webcasts"}

        <label for="keywords">Search:</label>

        <input type="text" name="keywords" id="keywords" value="" size="18" maxlength="100" /></p>
        <input type="submit" value="submit" class="submit" /></p>

    {/exp:search:simple_form}

    I’ve also turned on Query strings, and tried adding the index.php back into General Config (with my htaccess rewrite removed).

    Unfortunately I’m still having the same issue. Searches aren’t working - they’re redirecting me to the homepage.

    454 Creative,

    Can you try one more thing for us please?

    Can you open up system/expressionengine/config/config.php and change this line

    $config['uri_protocol']    = 'AUTO';

    to this

    $config['uri_protocol']    = 'PATH_INFO';

    If PATH_INFO doesn’t work can you try the other values in the comments above it.

    Hi John,
    I just tried changing between AUTO, PATH_INFO, QUERY_STRING, REQUEST_URI, and ORIG_PATH_INFO - but still had the same results.

    BUT

    I just installed one of my favorite addons - Deeploy Helper - To make sure all of my paths were correct. I had to remove “www.” from a few of the paths (as I’m hiding/rewriting it)... and now everything works great.
