    Hello,

I am running 1.6.2, Build:  20080206 for the site at http://www.kevinevans.net/

For some reason the homepage is the only page that works now. When I try to click on any navigation or link it changes in the address bar but it stays on the homepage. I have not made any changes at all to the EE admin or the site.

Anyone know the problem? Couldve my host changed something and break something?

    Thanks!

    Kevin

You need to force query strings. This works:

You should also upgrade to a later build, yours is quite old.

    Thanks!

But why did it suddenly stop working? It was working fine without that on.

I got a reply back from my host; here’s what they said:

There is no issues with the path_info variable and you can see this at http://www.kevinevans.net/test.php - Also, I changed the value as $qtype = 1; on index.php to force URI Type to path_info, however the same results on your page. Also, I tried with $qtype = 2 [query_string] and it shows the same result. So, it is clear that this is nothing related to path_info but having script level issue. I would suggest you to check with the script and with the developer.

Since it was working before without force query stings option it has to be something that they changed on the server.

Is there anyway I can verify myself if path_info is working properly on the server?

Kevin, I’m not seeing any issues now when clicking around the site. Are you?

    Hello

I followed the instructions at http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Workaround_for_Forced_Query_Strings/; added that one line.

My host said they upgraded PHP to the latest version back in august, so I am expected that broke EE somehow, maybe because that version PHP is not compatible with EE 1.6.2?

    THanks

Does it work when you force query strings now? Also, seriously consider upgrading. EE 1.6.2 is more than 2.5 years’ old.

Since I added that code to the index.php I didn’t have to enable the force query, so we are good.

I just havent time to update to new version, but will soon.

    Hi, Kevin,

Do make time, there have been a few important security updates since 1.6.2.

Glad to hear you got the site working the way you wanted.  Please let us know if you need anything else.
