On the user message template, is it possible to change the {link} tag so that it opens in a new window?

Ideally this would only occur on the mailing list confirmation page, so a secondary question would be, is it possible to determine the action it’s responding to and style it accordingly?

Or, alternatively, create a bespoke message page just for the mailing list module?

I am afraid that is not currently an option. A custom message should be possible by modifying the language pack, though.
