Out of the blue, with no changes to any files for a long time, our 1.6.7 installation of Expression Engine no longer shows the back end (system/index.php). It simply shows a blank page. I check the files on the server, and their contents are all in tact and unchanged. The front-end content is all in-tact without errors.

The only way I can get in is by using /admin.php from the utilities folder. Nothing looks abnormal in the backend.

Any idea why this would have happened out of the blue?

RocketMedia, no idea why things aren’t working, but I’d suggest you upgrade to the most recent version if for no other reason than to refresh all the files.

I guess thats what I’ll have to do although I’d much rather find the source of the problem in case this happens later down the road. I’ll update with my findings.

No way of knowing exactly what caused it, we don’t troubleshoot older EE versions, only the recent ones. This way we’d be on the same code base. Sometimes it’s just that files need to be refreshed.
