    In

    http://expressionengine.com/docs/templates/php_templates.html

    there’s a warning stating

Very Important: Enabling PHP in a template will enable anyone with editing rights for that template to become a de-facto Super Admin since they can execute any PHP they want in that template, including PHP that can reveal information about your system, PHP that can delete data from your database, etc. Exercise extreme caution before enabling this option if you permit others to edit your templates. For security reasons, PHP parsing is disabled in the Hosted trial version of ExpressionEngine.

I was wondering if this maybe why I keep getting PHP errors. What exactly does “hosted trial version” mean? I currently have my EE install on trial (no license yet).

    thanks,
    Jayson

Is this the Trial version? If so we should move this thread to the appropriate forum. I am asking because I see a valid 2.0 license attached to your account.

There is no “Hosted Trial” version anymore, so the docs are inaccurate in that regard. The 2.0 Trial is self-hosted, and encrypted. The full version is not.

I have a freelance version but right now I’m working with a trial full version (for the members module which is not available in the freelance version).

    when you say

The 2.0 Trial is self-hosted, and encrypted.

so that does mean that PHP is somehow hampered with the version I have?

    thanks,
    Jayson

Well, the Trial version is meant to evaluate EE to see if it fits your needs, not do serious development work with it. You’re much more likely to run into issues with the Zend-encrypted files.

does mean that PHP is somehow hampered with the version I have?

No, it’s just encrypted, and will stop working after 30 days. You should still be able touse PHP in your templates.
