I’m getting a goofy problem where the auto xhtml is formatting backwards curly quotes after any type of punctuation. If it’s after a letter it functions fine, but after . ? and , the quotes display backwards. Anyway of fixing this? I’m using 1.6.6

This is fixed in the latest build of 1.6.6, so a build update should fix you right up.

I have another site working on a previous version where it works. On this site, I started in build 1.6.6; so the opposite seems to be true, at least in my case. Any ideas?

What builds, specifically, are you working with? You can find that at the bottom of the control panel, under the version.

‘20081114’ I believe. Is there a new build? I’ll give that a shot tomorrow if there is. I just prefer to upgrade the cms as infrequently as possible. 😊

Yes, there is a new build, which is why I asked you to update. =)
Updating to the latest build will fix the quotes/punctuation issue.
Please confirm once you have completed the update. =)
