New Portal for ExpressionEngine University Authors

We have heard from many in the community that you would like to contribute to ExpressionEngine University, but don’t know where to start. So we wanted to take some time to outline how to get started contributing to EE:U and the new Authors Portal.

We are looking for authors!

The first place to start is by telling us about yourself and your article idea(s).

To get started, click on “Write for Us” and complete the form at the bottom of the page.

What types of articles do we publish?

Like you, users of ExpressionEngine use multiple tools and technologies every time you build or maintain an ExpressionEngine CMS site. We’ll publish articles on anything related to working on the web, whether they are explicitly linked to ExpressionEngine or not.

Examples include but are not limited to:

• ExpressionEngine tutorials
• ExpressionEngine tips and tricks
• How-to articles
• Add-on usage articles
• Tutorials on more general topics related to the web
• Case studies
• Video tutorials or screencasts
• Anything that might be valuable to the web development community

Another option is to share articles from your own website through ExpressionEngine University. All articles published have the option to be published with a Canonical URL, allowing your website to retain the link juice while also publishing for the entire ExpressionEngine community to easily find and read.

New Portal For Authors

Once we approve your request to become an author in ExpressionEngine University, you will be able to log in and access the Authors Portal, where you can manage your own articles, submit new articles, and view titles of drafts being worked on by other authors.

Submitting New Articles

To start a new article, click on “Write For Us,” then select “Submit New Article.”

Here you can submit a new article, which will then be saved as a draft for your further refinement or to submit to an ExpressionEngine team member for review. Simply start a new article and click submit. Even when you just get an idea, go ahead and submit a blank article with your title so others can see you’re what you’re working on.

Manage Your Articles

To manage your articles, click on “Write For Us,” then select “Manage Your Articles.”

Here you can preview and edit all of your open and draft articles.

View Draft Articles

To view draft titles by other authors, click on “Write For Us,” then select “View Draft Articles.”

Here you can see the titles and summaries of articles currently in draft by others so you don’t work on writing something that someone else is already working on.

ExpressionEngine Team Review

Once you are ready for your article to be published, let us know and we’ll review, suggest changes, and public when all parties have approved!
