I guess the answer is no, but I might ask anyway. Can you use the Query module with another database that is not the one hosting Expression Engine?
Read only is fine and actually what I want and being able to use a native tag and not enable PHP on those templates would be great. Of course, I guess the answer is no since the add-on can only talk to the EE database, but maybe there is a way to setup the other DB for authentication. Just asking in case its actually possible.
vw000, with the native Query addon you cannot use multiple databases. However, I believe there are ways to add multiple database connections in your config and then use those connections in your custom add-ons. Thus you could probably fork or extend the Query module to connect to a secondary connection. I wouldn’t know what to tell you as far as how to do it though 😊
