Hello!  I have 4 problems that seem related.

    I just set up a website with v2.9.0 - Build Date: 20140715.

Problem 1) From the start, after publishing, I wasn’t able to see the post on the View Entry page.  That is, after hitting submit, I would get to the “View Entry” page and only see the title of the new submission, and:

      Edit This Entry
      Return to Filtered Entries
      Publish Another Entry
      View Comments (0)

But the content showed up in the website itself, so I didn’t worry about it.

Problem 2) Starting yesterday, the formatting buttons in the publish page or even the edit page have disappeared.  I checked in Admin > Channels > Channel Preferences and the “Display Formatting Buttons” button is set to “yes”. This led to problem 3:

Problem 3)   I read some other posts and saw that perhaps this is unique to me - that I should go to my account, look in the sidebar under “Channel Settings” and change the formatting buttons - but there’s nothing there relating to html formatting buttons.  The only thing I see in the side bar under channel settings is, “Bookmarklet”

Problem 4) And now, today, I go to edit a template.  When I click on Design > Template Manager - the list of templates is not there!

I can still get to them by using the drop down menu from the tabs - design >templates >edit - etc.

But how long until the whole control panel up and disappears?

What could be causing this?  How do I fix it.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I don’t have any information about your other problems, but this one is actually EE behaving properly. The content preview was removed from this screen in version 2.7.1.

Thank you!  One less thing to worry about.

Still wondering about the rest.  Ah, the anxiety.

Hello All,  This problem is persistent, even after updating to EE 2.10.1.

No formatting buttons: The buttons in the publish and edit pages have disappeared.  It is EXTREMELY tedious to have to type in the html manually.  What happened to the buttons????  How can I re-engage the buttons?  HELP!!!

See attached “noformattingbuttons.jpg” and that’s what I see. No buttons.

FYI, I did go to Channel Preferences: Blog and clicked “Yes” for display formatting buttons, as you see in “displayformattingbuttons.jpg”

No Sidebar: Back when I first looked into this, I was told to look in the sidebar for something. That’s when I noticed my sidebar is disabled.  As you see from “nosidebar.jpg” I have a disabled link that says “Hide sidebar” - even though the sidebar isn’t even opened.

Disabled Template Manager:  When I go to Design > Template Manager - the list of templates is not there! I created a new group, “Invisibility_test” based on “blog” - and that’s invisible, too.

I can still get to them by using the drop down menu from the tabs - design >templates >edit - etc. but that’s ridiculous.

I don’t know how or why this happened. And I don’t know why updating to 2.10.1 wouldn’t change it.  All the files are FRESH.  I didn’t make any changes to the new admin.php or index.php files. The only old files restored from backup per the user guidelines are config.php and database.php

So, what can I do to get my buttons, sidebar and template view back?  HELP!!!!!

    Thanks.

And here’s the image of the template manager page with no visible templates. So weird.

So I notice there are shortcut keys for the formatting, but per the user guide only for pc?

This defines the shortcut key you can use to invoke the HTML tag while you are editing. For example, if you set the shortcut to be “h”, then the shortcut key combination will be ALT+h.

I have a mac. Have tried different combos of the alt/option, the apple, the control key. No dice.

This is a serious problem that has not gone away.  It is a serious flaw in Expression Engine.  This shouldn’t be happening.  I am considering other blogging software to use instead. EE has become the most tedious software imaginable.  Migration would be a headache, but I can’t last much longer with this problem. Any ideas of how to fix this?

Migrating might not be such a headache.  Checking this out: https://www.cms2cms.com/cms/supported-cms/

I need an easier workflow. Expression engine, hiding the buttons and templates, is not that. Anyone have a fix for the problem? Or should I migrate? In which case, any recommendations for what I should migrate to?

    Thanks!
