Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to add buttons at the bottom of blog posts to share the posts on Facebook and Twitter. I know those buttons exist for the pro version via an (expensive) add-on, but can the same be achieved in the free version, and if so, how?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Hi! Sharing buttons is not part of ExpressionEngine, but you can easily add them in your templates.
For example, you can use https://sharingbuttons.io/ Just replace default URL with {current_url}
global variable.
Other options:
https://sharethis.com/platform/share-buttons/
https://www.addtoany.com/buttons/for/website
and dozens other services and methods
As Rob said, don’t just put social links on all pages. If you do, make sure they are static buttons, not sending your visitors traffic and information to a third party. Depending on the type of website you run, people might not like that privacy invasion with trackers. The reason Facebook and others give like buttons for free for website owners is because they use them as trackers.
