Hi All,
I’ve been searching all morning for answers and figured I’d just finally ask here …
I have a dropdown list of entries from which I want to select – this is working nicely.
I want to make my selection and click “Go” to a new page that shows the resultant data for the entry I selected – this is working (partially).
When I get to the result page, though, the item I selected doesn’t populate the fields … the first entry in my list does.
Do I need to manage this operation as a “search/result” process, rather than a navigation?
I’m not sure how to even begin to code this in EE.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Todd
Hi Todd,
Thanks for getting in touch about this.
There’s a few different ways to go about doing this. Are you using ExpressionEngine version 7?
It might be worth checking out this video series. Lesson 3 and 4 specifically might be best to checkout.
This is a bit of an older video (ExpressionEngine 5)… but the concepts are still very applicable.
I think it’s also worth mentioning that there’s also over 7 thousand people in our slack group if you want to check it out!
Thanks,

If I read you right you are selecting an entry from a ‘select’ field then want to display that entry?
If so have a look at the categories form example at https://docs.expressionengine.com/latest/channels/categories.html#category-dropdown-menu and tweak the tags to use your channel entries.
