Question 1:
Is there a way to have a public weblog, but with optional ‘for members only’ postings?
Question 2:
Is there a way to password protect my whole blog or at least certain entries?
Answer question 2:
There are two ways to do this.
The non-EE way, which is to use .htaccess.
Or, the EE way. In this way you create a member group. Then you create a template that shows the private content. Then you click “Access” on that template and set all to no except for the proper group - you can redirect unauthorized viewers to a template of your choice.
Then, all the members that should have access - they go into the special group.
