IRC Channels

Table of Contents

Because ExpressionEngine and PMachine users are all over the world, these IRC Channels want to improve communication between the users including the PMachine Staff. The official forum and this WiKi are a good place for any help but sometimes there are things that are better discussed in a real-time channels like the IRC channels described below:

It could also allow interesting things like live interviews (moderated)
with Rick Ellis (the CEO and Lead Developer of pMachine, Inc.), Paul (CTO)
or other brainiacs from pMachine. Sounds great - eh?!

What is IRC

Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a form of instant communication over the Internet. It is mainly designed for group (many-to-many) communication in discussion forums called channels, but also allows one-to-one communication.

What do i need to connect

You need a OS specific IRC Client to connect to an IRC Network.

A list of Clients for different operating systems can be found in the Wikipedia: Wikipedia: Internet Relay Chat - Clients

Which IRC Network we are on

“freenode”, formerly known as Open Projects Network, is an IRC network which is particularly popular with free and open source software users and programmers. It is the official network of many major open source projects, such as Debian GNU/Linux. freenode reports over 23,500 simultaneous connections at weekly peak.

Connect with your favorite IRC Client to the Server: irc.freenode.net

(If your client needs a Port try: 6667)

Freenode IRC Server-List

ExpressionEngine is the registered channel. Many IRC clients will simply have some sort of Join Channel button where you can just enter the name. If you need to manually join the channel once you are connected to the Network just type:

/join #expressionengine
