Can I purchase Non-Commercial Site Licenses for a Multiple Site Manager with a Commercial License?
No. Licensing for the Multiple Site Manager (MSM) and additional Sites must match the license of the ExpressionEngine installation.
For example, if your ExpressionEngine installation has a Commercial License, then the Multiple Site Manager and additional Sites must all have Commercial licenses as well. If your ExpressionEngine installation has a Non-Commercial License, then the Multiple Site Manager and additional Sites must all have Non-Commercial licenses.
Of course, you are free to use an MSM “Site” with a Commercial License for non-commercial purposes, but you cannot run commercial or for-profit websites with an MSM “Site” that has a Non-Commercial License. Determine what type of ExpressionEngine license your website will require.
