Do I have to buy a new license every year?

When you purchase an ExpressionEngine License, you own it forever. You can use the license as long as you want. All updates to the version you purchased are free. For example if you purchased ExpressionEngine 2.0, you can be certain that ExpressionEngine 2.5 will be a free upgrade for you. The only paid upgrades are for major versions such as ExpressionEngine 1 to 2 and ExpressionEngine 2 to 3.
