How do I set up an entry status workflow?
EE comes with the ability to set a “status” for entries. By default, you have the basic “open” and “closed” statuses. “Open” status entries are displayed on the public page while “Closed” entries are not. In order to allow a group of users to review entries submitted by other users before publication (i.e. “Open” status), you simply have to set up the correct workflow.
1. Under Admin > Weblog Management set the weblog to the “Closed” status by default.
2. Go to Admin > Custom Entry Statuses and edit the default Group.
3. Edit the “Open” status. Set the status so that only your SuperAdmin (or whichever) Member Group has access to it. Set the Member Group for your standard members who will be submitting entries to not have access to set that permission.
Once you’ve done this, new entries submitted by the lower level members will be set to Closed automatically and they won’t be able to set “Open”. Your Superadmins or another Group can then go and review the entries and set them to “Open” if approved.
