Hey there -

I have a client interested in EE and they want to create a newsletter template and manage a mailing list.  I’ve not implemented these services in the past.  Any advice as to what’s out there and the differences between the options?

Thanks!

Hi, Julie!

What kind of features are you looking for with the mailing list?  You can read about the Mailing List module in the docs.  You can use a template for the newsletter as well.

More specifics on what your goals are would help us to give you a fuller answer.  Or you could give it a try. =)

Thanks, Lisa -

it sounds like she simply wants to send HTML mailers.  I checked out the Mailing List module, but wasn’t sure if it was best suited for HTML mailers - whether it was frequently spam blocked, or if there was another 3rd party module that most folks used.  I did check over the docs and it looks like it’ll work w/o me actually trying it. I hate to decide on something w/o getting feedback from other developers about the options.  thanks

We have many people that use the mailing list module, occasionally those are going to get hit by spam filters, of course.  That is a general mailing issue.

Some people that have big email campaigns and need management use other services.  Solspace.com has a module to integrate with Constant Contact, and they supply statistics on those mailouts.  So if you need that type of feature, it may be a good area to explore a bit more.

We can certainly leave this here for other community members to respond to, or move it down to general and see if you get more community responses. =)
