How to hide time from value shown in date field

I am using an SAEF to allow members to post events to a calendar. I am using the entry_date because that seems simplest. I am using Robin’s cal_saef plugin, which allows users to populate the date field by choosing a date on a mini calendar like we have in the CP.

Problem: the time portion of the entry_date value makes no sense for my purposes, so I’d like to have it hidden (or removed, tho I gather it is required). SO—any ideas for how to do this? I want users to be able to enter JUST a date, NOT a time. And if a time is entered by default, I would like it not to be visible to the user.

Ideas?
