I like the hard coded, full length URL. It’s easier to copy and paste, doesn’t require much thinking, and it’s the same process web users are already familiar with.

yup, i agree hardcoded full URL is a good option. thing is, im adding about 200 internal links in various weblog posts and the site’s currently still on the staging server. so when the url changes we’re in trouble. i wonder if its feasible to do some kind of find a replace in the data stored in the weblog db tables?

You could also just do (or should be able to in most cases) :

/template-group/template/url_title

That should work aswell and negates you having to type in the domain part every time which will save a little typing. Make sure you have the leading slash in front of the first segment though or you will probably get errors.

Best wishes,

Mark

That’s why I like the hardcode URLs. Find and replace takes all of about six seconds to change everything.

If you use the links like I showed above though you shouldn’t (unless I’m thinking wrong on this one) need to use Find & Replace at all.

As you are only specifying the rest of the URL after the domain and as long as you make sure to put in the leading slash then when you change servers all you do is update your site preferences so that the main site URL is correct and then everything else should just work regardless.

Best wishes,

Mark
