Using EE 1.6.6, I used the MSM new site feature to copy old templates to the new site. However, after copying, the templates disappeared. I found the templates on the new site, and copied the relevant ones back over. (Using the “Create a New Template Group” feature) and they’re back. Have you seen this before?

When you say “copy”, what do you mean exactly.  Walk me through recreation.  The word “copy” does not appear anywhere in the Create New Site form, so I want to make sure I understand what you did.

Thanks Derek. The word I should have used was “Duplicate” as in “Duplicate Template Groups.”

Gotcha.  And can you duplicate the behavior?  I’m wondering if somehow the form data submitted did not match your intent, perhaps an accidental mouseclick, or key hit while the field had focus.  I don’t recall this happening to anyone before, and don’t see from the code how it could.  Just in case, what version and build of MSM are you running?

Hmm.. I have looked here:

core.sites.php
cp.sites.php
lang.sites.php

And I don’t see any reference to versions. What am I missing?

It’s in cp.sites.php, in the SitesAdmin class, but if you don’t see it in the main menu of the Edit Sites page, then you aren’t on the current version for sure.

I can’t find any version info in that class either.

.....Big sigh…..

For my current company, we installed EE over a year a ago, and as far as I know, we’ve never updated these files. (I forgot about MSM being an expansion rather than intrinsic to EE) We are current on 1.6.6. I will get an update on the admin’s schedule. We’ve got to install it on the failover server, test it, then fail over. Install it on the live server, test it, then fail back over. Did I mention the sigh…..? wink

Anyway, not your fault that we’re not up to date. I’ll probably wait for a while to update unless there is some huge security or risk of data loss.

Ah, yes, there have been a number of updates.  I’ll keep this thread open for you; feel free to pop back in after you’ve had time to roll it out.
