is there a way in EE to have a form that users can fill out and capture that data in the database and be shown using google maps?

we are wanting to build a site that promotes people to host and event at their location and post to us where they are having their event and display it using a map.

I looked around on the Google Maps API and saw it was fairly easy to make the database fields and use those to display the map, but how can i allow users to post this information (even without having to make an account) and have it captured in the database?

also, can i make a way where a site admin can have a easy front end to editing this content for moderation?

thanks!

Hi, mstecker!  Absolutely, simply set up a weblog to hold that data, with each entry being a set of coordinates.  Then you’ll need to use an add-on to filter that information through the Google Maps API.  I believe there are a few Geolocation type extensions here.

And yes, you can use the Stand Alone Entry Form for a customer, and there is also a way to use that to make a Stand Alone Edit Form.

So yes, all of these can be accomplished. If you need help implementing them, please feel free to post in the appropriate forum below. =)
