I am using the most excellent module Freeform for a form. The customer wants to collect certain documents but wants to know if the attachments are virus scanned when they are uploaded to the server. I am sure that the answer is “NO” but I thought I would ask. I have also just posted at the Freeform forum and do not have an answer from there yet.

As far as I am aware Freeform honours the exact same preferences and systems as the rest of ExpressionEngine and so will disallow certain file MIME types depending on what you have in the system/lib/mimes.php file, other than that though I don’t think they are scanned for viruses. The only other things that ExpressionEngine does do is to check the file name for bad characters and perhaps one other item which I can’t remember at the moment.

As to virus checking though I’m pretty sure it doesn’t handle that.
