Just point me in the right direction.

I keep accidently posting to one of my sites with my super admin user by accident.

I have enabled the author change so it’s not difficult to change this, but I would rather not have to do this at all. I would like to restrict only one user to that site.

I am willing to make an admin user and make it super admin, so I don’t accidently sign in with that account, then down my current privileges on my current super admin account (that makes sense?).

On a side note, I want the list of users on each site to be restricted to that site only.

Easy way to do this?

Basically, I don’t want anyone on site B to know about people on site A, or even be able to see they exist, and I don’t want accounts that can post to both.

Christopher, what about aligning your user groups to a particular site? Would that work for you?

You set up each group to only be allowed to certain weblogs.

Is it the front end or the backend where you don’t want to let them see other members?

If by backend you mean control panel, then I don’t care. I am the only one that logs into that.

And yes, I think managing the groups is what I want. I was reading through the MSM stuff, and missing it. Will look again, but might just see if it’s obvious in the CP.

Currently, if you go to my member’s list there are accounts listed there that do not belong to my .name site. I want these to only show up on the site they signed up on. The reverse holds true (but not as important).

Thanks.

You’d have to create your own member’s list to restrict to just the member groups you associate with each site.

There is nothing in the docs about restricting access to the full site based on membership.

Individual templates you can restrict, or you might want to use some sort of a redirect plugin (Mark Bowen’s) to redirect to the “other” site based on user group.

Ok, I thought I got this, but am still having an issue.

It worked swimmingly, but was a tiny bit frustrating, since every time I made a change and hit update for the group with defaults to the first site in my list, so kept having to go back and change that, but no big deal.

But the problem: The user on site A has all posts defaulting to status closed and I don’t have the ability to change them to open.

The user has access to the CP, has edit ability on the weblogs, posting, etc. The weblogs are set to default status open.

I do have the members limited on the sites like I want at this point.

I created a new Super Admin, since it looks like that has to appear in the list, but that’s fine.

I’ve looked at the weblog settings, and the user settings as far as what it is allowed to do, and all indications is that it should be posting to Open. Any other idea of where to look?

Does the weblog in question have an assigned Status Group?

It does now. Thanks.

Working again. Not sure why it went away.

Probably something to do with limiting the user to that one site.

I’m totally happy on all issues. Feel free to mark resolved.

Thanks for your help.

The MSM group are pretty cool, if a bit confusing.

Excellent! MSM is one of those things that is a bit confusing at first. Please don’t hesitate to post again if needed.
