It feels very odd that there are “conditional pairs” and “advanced conditionals” that use the same syntax - but not quite. There’s probably a historical reason for this, but it’s very confusing to someone new to the system that sometimes I can use {if:else} and sometimes I can’t, for indistinguishable {if var}{/if} structures.
