I’m sure I’ve messed things up completely, but here’s what’s going on… (NOTE: i’m completely new to this, so please be kind. wink

I started creating the site on a test URL because we hadn’t purchased the new URL yet. Now we own the url, and i tried to move things over.

I can’t seem access the config.php page (after “moving” files over to the new url). I get “Invalid file request.” Anyway, i proceeded to develop the site anyway (dumb move, i now am aware) and replaced the testing url with the new url everywhere i could find it via the admin/ee control panel thing. It seemed to work, but now it’s reverting to the old url in some places—like when it’s looking for images. All stuff that was updated last night.

any ideas?

I’m curious what the difference is between “backing up and restoring” the mySQL database, vs. just copying it over. The two url’s are on the same server, so curious if that’s still a required step?

And how would i go about it at this stage? (Since i think some of the “current” stuff is on the old url and some stuff on the new. I’m not sure what’s where anymore… !!)

shucks. what a mess. Help!
