Is there a limit to the number of entries or amount of data that ExpressionEngine can handle?

I have a site that now has more than 25,000 entries and growing. We’re looking at adding a feature that could add another 20,000 entries.

I was wondering if that amount of entries or data could potentially slow either the console or the user experience.

There are EE-Powered sites out there that have upwards of 100k entries or more.  If you’re on a decent host, and you code your site well, you should not have a problem.

Thanks, Greg. One reason why I’m asking is that sometimes my console is slow. I just want to make sure I’m not digging a hole for my site.

Not a problem.  I think it’s all in the hosting setup you have.  If you do have 30-40k entries, and your traffic is pretty massive, it would probably be a decent idea to get out of a shared hosting environment in lieu of some kind of Dedicated Virtual or similar setup.  This way, you know that other sites not owned by you that could be poorly coded are not affecting your system resources.
